An early work by this important African-American female artist. Jones was the only African-American female painter of the 1930s and 1940s to achieve fame abroad. She had frequented Martha's Vineyard since her childhood days at her family's summer home; she and her husband later stayed on Martha's Vineyard during the 1940s.
