As part of the Federal Art Project sponsored by the Works Progress Administration, Louis Siegriest designed eight posters for the exhibition that honored Native American culture in the Indian Court at the Golden Gate International Exposition. For each of these posters he "selected images representing the Navaho, Pueblo, Haida, Plains, Chippewa, Seneca, Eskimo and Apache tribal nations" (WPA p. 55).
