Philadelphian Louis Sloan is best known for his plein air landscape painting, often with dramatic depictions of natural phenomena, such as his Gathering Storm Over Philadelphia, circa 1961, in the collection of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia.
