Monte-Carlo, the capital of the principality of Monaco, has long been a summer playground for the rich and famous. Here, in a carriage that seems made to accommodate their large dresses, two women head out into the evening, with the sweep of the bay lit up behind them. Although Icart, master of the boudoir etching, created only a few posters, he has captured the same kind of innocent sexuality here as he conveys in his prints. Voyage p. 78, Riviera 103.
