Condition B+ / A-: creases in margins and image. Framed.
La Critique, founded in 1895, was a leading avant-garde magazine that covered politics, theatre, music and the wider art scene in Paris. In 1888, Louis Valtat studied at the Academy Juliau with Pierre Bonnard and Eduoard Vuillard, andboth influenced Valtat's work. In 1895 he worked with Toulouse-Lautrec and Albert André on the stage designs for La Chariot de Terre Cuite. He ultimately settled in the south of France and was a prominent founding member of the Fauvist movement. This extremely rare poster of a woman reading the magazine is a pure gem of the Nabis style. Le Peintre et L'Affiche p. 39.
