LOUISE NEVELSON
Facade Portfolio.
Group of 11 (of 12) screenprints (4 on color paper: red, blue, yellow and silver) with collage and screenprinted acetate overlays, 1966. Each 585x447 mm; 23x17 1/2 inches (one is 585x890 mm; 23x35 inches), full margins (one with trimmed margins). Each an edition of 125 (the screenprints on color paper an edition of 150). Each signed, dated, and numbered in pencil, lower margin (the screenprint on silver paper with the artist's signature, dated and edition incised in the paper). Printed by Chiron Press, New York, with the blind stamp lower margins. Published by Harry N. Abrams, New York, and Pace Editions, Inc., New York. Very good impressions.
According to Baro, "The portfolio of twelve prints entitled Facade were done in homage to Edith Sitwell. The title of each print is the title of one of the poems of the Sitwell suite of the same name." The Facade Portfolio was the most complex and multi-faceted project of Nevelson's (1899-1988) printed oeuvre to this date, achieved with the expert assistance of the master printer and founder of Chiron Press, Stephen Poleskie. Baro 71-81.
