Provenance: acquired directly from the artist; private Maryland collection.
Loïs Mailou Jones returned to France after World War II, and lived there intermittently through the 1960s. In the late 1940s, she won numerous awards and had exhibitions of her paintings at ACA Gallery and Grand Central Art Galleries in New York and Barnett-Aden Gallery in Washington, DC.
