This drawing was completed while Loïs Mailou Jones was a student at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts from 1923-1927. This drawing is a scarce example of her classical figure drawing, which was a staple of the fine arts curriculum, and is the earliest known drawing by Jones to come to auction.
