Currently living and working in New York, Luanda Lozano was born in Humpata, Angola, and spent her early years in the Dominican Republic. She earned a AAS degree in fine arts from Altos de Chavon School for Design, DR before relocating to the United States where she furthered her studies with a BFA degree in illustration from Parsons the New School for Design, NY. Her print making was developed through classes at The Art Students League, NY as well as hands on training at the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop.Lozano's prints are in the collections of: Museo del Barrio, NY; Kanagawa Museum Print Collection, Japan; the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington DC; Museo Nacional del Grabado, Argentina; Varna Museum, Bulgaria; Chamaliere Museum, Auvergne, France; Montclair Art Museum, Montclair, NJ; the Library of Congress, Washington DC, and others.
