LUCIAN BERNHARD (1883-1950) BLEICHERT. 1914.
34 1/2x23 inches, 88x58 cm.
Condition B+: repaired tears, creases and restored pin-holes in margins and image.
At the beginning of the 20th century, Lucian Bernhard invented a new, modern and pragmatic way to design posters. His Sachs-Plakat (Object Poster) presented a bold, realistic image of the product being advertised against a solid background. In addition to the images themselves, Bernhard also created utilitarian typography that fit the images and the posters he designed. Here, for a company that produces conveyors, hoists and cable cars he places the object against a distant faintly colored backdrop, which puts the items into context, far above the world. This is the German version. Bernhard 30.
