LUCIAN BERNHARD (1883-1972) GREATER AMOCO-GAS. Cloth banner. 36 1/4x76 inches, 92x193 1/2 cm. Condition B+: stains and wrinkles in margins and image; vertical fold; eyelets in corners. Bernhard moved to the United States in 1925 and worked extensively in typography for the American Type Founders company. He also continued to do a lot of advertising work in which he essentially provided the services of a typographer. Post World War II examples of his corporate typographic posters include Rem (cough drops) and Pepsi. He redesigned their Amoco logo and then created posters with a number of variants.
