LUCIAN ZABEL (1893-1936) KAUFHAUS LÖWENBERG & CO. Circa 1913. 27 1/4x18 inches, 61 1/2x45 3/4 cm. Ernst Marx, Berlin. Condition A- / B+: restoration along minor creases and scratches in image. Zabel began working for the Ernst Marx printing house in Berlin in 1913. He had studied under Julius Klinger, and while his decorative style reflects Klinger's influence, Zabel's work evolved into a mannerist Art Deco style during the 1920s. This is one of at least two posters he designed for this Berlin department store. From the Hans Sachs Collection, with the collector's stamp on verso.
