Additional Details

a bright and colorful illustration from bemelmans's final madeline book featuring Miss Clavel and the girls dancing around Pepito's birthday cake. In the story, the girls jet off to London from Paris to surprise Pepito (son of the Spanish Ambassador stationed there) who is lonely for them and wishes to explore the great city with his friens for his birthday. In the printed book, the caption is altered from the one here. There it reads "Let's celebrate a lovely day."
