LYNES, GEORGE PLATT (1907-1955) Suite of 100 photographs relating to the New York City Ballet, from its inception to the early 1950s, including performers Francisco Moncion and Michael Manle in Jerome Robbins' "The Cage," images of Balanchine's "Orpheus" with Annabelle Lyon and Lew Christiansen, and "Jones Beach," Maria Tallchief in Balanchine's"Firebird," Maria Tallchief and Nicholas Magallanes in "Symphony in C," and numerous other stellar performers; plus an envelope with 19 contact prints of dancers, and a partial contact sheet with a male nude model. Silver prints, most are 9 1/2x7 1/2 inches (24.1x19.1 cm.), and the reverse, and smaller, the contact prints measure 3 1/4x2 1/4 inches (8.9x6.4 cm.); most of the larger photographs with Lynes' hand stamp and handwritten notations, in pencil, on verso. 1938-1951
