Lyon, who had served under Parry in his first expedition, here commanded the HMS Griper in an attempt to pass the Melville Peninsula and explore the northernmost coast of mainland North America to Kent Peninsula near Victoria Island. However, the expedition never made it out of Hudson's Bay and nearly shipwrecked twice. The work is of some value for its description of Eskimos encountered. Sabin 42851; TPL 1324.
