First edition, quarto, with Estienne's device to title; illustrated with full page engraved portrait of Le Pois by Pierre Woeiriot; twenty full page engravings by the same artist; and twenty-five text woodcuts (five take up the whole page), including an unaltered Priapus; contemporary ownership inscription to title page; book label of Rouen book collector Charles Lormier (1825-1900) with his motto, "Vita Sine Litteris Mors Est," pasted to ffep; Lormier's library was sold off in a series of auctions after his death; bound in full 18th century olive morocco, gilt-tooled spine, aeg., joints cracking; 8 3/8 x 5 3/4 in.
