Leutbrewer, Christoph trans. Juan Bautista José de Barry.
El Pecador Arrepentido.

Mexico City: Por los Herederos de Juan Joseph Guillena Carrascoso, 1715.

First Mexican edition, octavo, bound in full contemporary calf tooled in gilt, with some fairly serious dampstaining and mildew damage, along with some worming, an interesting interactive confession listing dozens of very specific sins, framed on the structure of the ten commandments, each printed in a few lines, separated by printed rules, and carefully slit to form little slips and bound with two such leaves linked together by a shallow pocket on the fore-edge, the sinner is meant to select the relevant sin or sins, and untuck the leading edge of the slip on which it is printed from the fore-edge pocket, in this way one may use the book to keep track of one's sins, retucking them under the tab once one has confessed, 6 1/2 x 4 in.
