Published in the July 1907 edition of Putnam's Monthly Magazine, the reviewer wrote of this image, "I have never seen a better likeness of Miss Terry than the photograph here reproduced. It has all the charm and vivacity of her youth, and yet it is exactly like her as she is today." Ellen Terry (1847-1928) was one of Britain's leading actresses of the late 19th and early 20th-centuries. Another of Lohmann's photographs of Terry, likely from the same photoshoot, is in the collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
