Danish astronomer Longomontanus, here publishing his major contribution to the science in its first edition, is remembered for developing Tycho Brahe's model empircally, and promoting its adoption in the press. He was Brahe's student and took up the master's work at his demise. This title in a first edition appears at auction occasionally, if erratically, with several appearing for sale in 1950s and 1960s, followed by a long dry spell, and three copies since 2005.
