The wooden pieces carved by Nicolai Nicolov after the original wood designs by Man Ray. Published by The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Original black paste board storage box.
This copy of Man Ray's 1920 Wood Chess Set was published and offered for sale in the gift shop of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1971. Man Ray had not authorized the museum to reproduce the set and subsequently had the edition confiscated. Though some examples had already been sold and remained in the marketplace.
