MAN RAY (after)
A l'heure de l'observatoire: Les amoureux.

Color offset lithograph, 1971. 400x955 mm; 15 3/4x37 5/8 inches (sheet), full margins. Signed and dedicated to Jacqueline Hyde, photographer and Man Ray's assistant, in pencil, lower margin.

This work is based on the same-titled contemporaneous offset lithograph published by Jean Pitihory, Paris (see Anselmino 15).

Hyde (1922-2013), born in Germany with the name Hilde Heilbronner, started her photography career at the magazine Future. She adopted British citizenship and served with the Royal Air Force from 1940 to 1945. Hyde worked freelance photographing works in the Louvre and in the late 1940s collaborated with prominent Parisian artists and gallerists, including Man Ray (1890-1976, see lots 339
, lot 407-410
) and Max Ernst (1891-1976, see lots 336-338
).
