MAN-TO-MAN INC.

Questionnaire for the Man-to-Man Computer Dating Service.
[8] pages (215x270 mm; 8 1/2x10 3/4 inches) on 2 folding sheets, staple-bound, printed in brown and black; minor wear. No place, circa 1968.

The dating service Man-to-Man Inc. boasted the involvement of pioneering activist Frank Kameny. Members answered the 110 questions on this questionnaire, and sent in the answer sheet (not included here) for "entry into the IBM 360/50 computer," which would then generate a list of between 5 and 14 mutually compatible matches in their area. Members were "eligible for gay travel. Imagine--luxury cruise liners and smart hotels exclusively for gay people." The questions cover appearance, race, religion, hobbies, masculinity, and more. No location is given on this questionnaire (the address was presumably given on the answer sheet), but other sources place their headquarters in Great Neck, NY. One other example known, at the University of California at Davis.
