Additional Details

Later edition of a French translation first published a year after the 1658 German original version. After accompanying a delegation from the Duke of Holstein to Persia in 1633, Mandelslo continued on his own to India, returning to Europe via Madagascar and the Cape of Good Hope. The first part of this edition contains Mandelslo's account of his experiences, while the second consists of writings on Asia and Africa from other sources.<
