A rare surviving hand-made missionary map centering on the Free State of Congo which existed from 1885 to 1908. Samuel Mann was a Massachusetts-based cartographer who produced maps of this kind for the American Baptist Missionary Union (A.M.B.U) pertaining to the areas in which their work was being undertaken. The Union's evangelical efforts in the Congo region began in 1884.
