MANUEL MARÍN
Sans titre (Soleil rouge).

Painted steel mobile, circa 2000. 1400x1524 mm 55x60 inches (furthest distance end to end). With the artist's incised signature on the largest element.

Marín (1942-2007) was born in Spain where he trained as a bullfighter in his teens. After traveling to London in 1962, where he worked with Henry Moore (1898-1986), Marín moved to New York in 1964, where he focused especially on creating sculptures inspired by and slavishly imitating the work of Alexander Calder (1898-1976, see lots 104-120). In 1970, Marín had his first solo exhibition at the Alan Brown Gallery, Scarsdale.
