MANUEL MARÍN
Untitled.

Painted steel mobile sculpture, circa 2000. 770 mm; 30 1/4 inches (height).

Marín (1942-2007) was born in Cieza, Murcia, Spain and in his teens trained as a bullfighter. In 1962, he traveled to London and worked temporarily for Henry Moore. Marín moved to New York in 1964 and in the late 1960s began sculpture full-time, focusing especially on mobiles which were profoundly influenced by the work of Alexander Calder. In 1970, Marín had his first solo exhibition at the Alan Brown Gallery, Scarsdale.
