Patent of nobility in favor of Matías Vélez of the town of Villar de Domingo García. illuminated manuscript in spanish, written in italic hand in brownish-black ink, 34 lines, recto and verso, on vellum. with double-page opening in colors and gold showing the crucifixion (left) and virgin and child (right), with king and courtiers kneeling below; full-page painting with depiction of st. james on horseback slaughtering moors above the arms of the grantee; three illuminated initials incorporating portraits of saint, angel, and the grantee(?); 14 large divisional initials in gold in red and blue ground with penwork decoration. 53 leaves, ruled in red throughout. 307x213 mm, contemporary red goatskin over pasteboard, gilt-tooled to panel design, recased with spine ends and cover corners restored, minor surface wear; occasional marginal soiling, facial features obliterated on most of the figures in the double-page opening.
