Vellum bifolium from a Greek manuscript, containing an excerpt from the Notitiae episcopatuum of the Church of Constantinople written in small, neat minuscule hand in dark brown ink, initials and section headings with simple penwork decoration in red, 28 lines, recto and verso, the innermost sheet of a quire, foliated 119-120 in later Greek hand. Approximately 205x298 mm; worn along edges, scattered small holes slightly affecting text. Asia Minor, 11th century

The Notitiae episcopatuum were registers of ecclesiastical dioceses in the Eastern Church generally found in the legal compilations known as Nomokanones, which contained both ecclesiastical legislation and civil laws relating to the church.
