Vellum leaf from a liturgical manuscript in Latin, with text written in romanesque book hand in brown ink, 22 (of ?) lines, 2 columns, recto and verso, with faded headings and initials in red. Approximately 202x152 mm, worn, soiled, and stained, separated across center crease, cropped at top and on one side partly entering one column of text, and with small portions excised from both sides. Germany, 12th century

The text includes an Easter sequence (missing a few lines) by the Swiss Benedictine monk and author Notker Balbulus (circa 840-912). Kehrein, Lateinische Sequenzen des Mittelalters 81.
The leaf is used as the binding on an incomplete copy of Valentin Boltz, Illuminirbuch. [2], 53, 55-60, [2] leaves only. Dark stains on opening leaves, marginal dampstaining toward end. Np, 1566. Guide to the preparation of dyes, pigments, inks, etc., first published in 1549. This edition not in VD16.
