Vellum leaf from an illuminated manuscript of the Vulgate with historiated initial V of the first word of Leviticus showing 2 sacrificial animals being offered to God, text of Exodus 40:11-Leviticus 4:5 written in gothic hand in black ink with headlines and chapter numbers in red and blue, 50 lines, double columns, recto and verso. Chapter initials alternately in red and blue with contrasting penwork decoration. Leaf 285x187 mm, initial 31x32 mm excluding extension; light soiling in lower outer corner on recto, light stain in outer margin on recto, bottom edge trimmed at a slight angle. Paris, circa 1250
