MARCELLIN AUZOLLE (1862-1942) CALENDAR FOR BERGER ET JAVAL. 1902.
231/2x111/2 inches. Breger & Nettre Suc., Paris.
Condition A-: trimmed at top edge. Paper.
Auzolle was a caricaturist who was often called upon to design posters. Among his most famous images is an 1896 poster he designed for the Lumiere Brothers, which was the very first movie poster! This calendar is not typical of his work, being primarily a classic Art Nouveau creation, with flowery ornamentation a la Alphonse Mucha, and a charming drawing of two girls in the middle.
