The first, written on verso of breakfast menu headed with gilt embossed coat of arms for the Grand Council of Fascism with printed date, Venice, September 15, 1934. 1/2 page, oblong 12mo; deep vertical crease with some loss to both signatures, faint scattered staining. The second, written on verso of printed visiting card for Vienna Philharmonic violinist Daniel Falk. 2 1/4x4 inches. Each with additional unknown signature, written in pencil on the same page as other two. Np, circa 1934
As President of the Royal Academy of Italy (1930-37), Marconi served on the Grand Council of Fascism. Mussolini was also a member, but his powers as Head of Government were subordinated to those of the Council, which, in 1943, deposed him.
