MARGUERITE ZORACH
The Desert.

Etching and aquatint printed in bluish black on cream laid Japan paper, 1909. 85x125 mm; 33/8x47/8 inches, wide margins. Signed, dated, titled and inscribed "Paris" in pencil, lower margin. A very good, dark impression of this scarce print.

We have not found another impression at auction in the last 20 years.

In 1907 Marguerite Zorach (née Thompson) moved to Paris where she studied under John Duncan Fergusson and Jacques-Emile Blanche. In 1909, she showed in the Salon, and in the Salon D’Automne in 1910 and 1911. Marguerite also met William Zorach in Paris, whom she married in 1912.
