MARILYN MONROE
Typed letter signed by Monroe to Famous Artists Corporation, terminating her contract with them. December 11, 1954.
1 page, 8 1/2x11 inches. Holes punched in the top margin.

Upset at Charles Feldman for his failure to recognize that creative decision making was integral to her 1954 contract re-negotiation and his failure to convince the studio to cast her in Guys and Dolls, Marilyn fired him and Famous Artists with this letter. As biographer Barbara Leaming recounts, Marilyn knew she was going to fire her agents in September, but held off until after Feldman's party in her honor at Romanoff's and the establishment of her production company with Milton Greene. She had even signed the letter several weeks before and left it up to her attorney Frank Delaney to fill in the date.
