MARIO BORGONI LE LINEE AEREE D' ITALIA. 1927.
39x261/2 inches. Richter & Co., Naples.
Condition A.. Framed.
"A number of commercial airlines sprang up in Italy during the 1920s. Naturally they chose to promote their services with imagery intended to give their customers confidence" (Wings of Italy p. 15). Borgoni was best known for his mastery of the Italian Liberty Style (Art Nouveau), traces of which can be found in this image, as the plane's trail has intricately spelled out the title of the poster. The aircraft depicted is an early Savoia-Marchetti Flying Boat. Manifesto 127.
