Brando was at the center of a number of pranks during filming of Viva Zapata!, including playing dead for several minutes (much to the shock of onlookers) after his character is shot to death at the end of the film. He would be nominated for a Best Actor Academy Award for the part (but not the stunt!). The films covered by this optional contract were Desiree and The Young Lions.
