Walter (1875-1976) was an American Impressionist painter who studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Philadelphia, before traveling abroad during the 1910s, where she trained at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière. After returning to the United States, she established her studio in Gloucester, Massachusetts, where she primarily painted sun-dappled, colorful beach scenes similar to the present lot.
