Munkácsi's dynamic sports, fashion, and street photography captured the speed and movement of the modern era. He applied a snapshot aesthetic to sporting events and athletes with meticulous and skilled precision, and was published in German photo weeklies, where he solidified his reputation as an innovative and skilled photographer. In 1933 he moved to New York to work at Harper's Bazaar, where his informal style and energetic approach revolutionized fashion photography, making him one of the most famous photographers of the period.
