Additional Details

Six sketches have been identified as preliminary drawings for "Starlight Rider," a nine-part series by Ernest Haycox, first published in Collier's on July 1, 1933. These drawings are accompanied by seven photostat copies of the final published drawings. This lot also features letters and Western Union telegrams between Clark, writer Kenneth Roberts, and Saturday Evening Post editor Pete Martin. The subject of the correspondences pertain to the historical accuracy of the uniforms, hats, and rifles later depicted by Clark in "Rogers' Rangers" by Kenneth Roberts, first published December 26, 1936.
