Oblong 8vo, green cloth-backed pictorial boards, mild soiling, mostly to turn-ins; scattered light soiling on a few pages; original first issue dust jacket, moderately toned and with only minor creasing to edges, lower inside corner of front flap clipped; custom box of 1/4 gilt-lettered burgundy morocco over blue cloth. lovely signed copy of the true first edition, first printing of sendak's classic tale. Contains Hanrahan's points for the true first jacket including three blurbs on front and rear flaps with no mention of the Caldecott Medal, a $3.50 price, and Harper & Row, Publishers/ 40-80/ 1163 at bottom of front flap.
