MAX LIEBERMANN
Tuchwalke in Florenz.

Black and white chalk on brown wove paper. 235x370 mm; 9 1/8x14 1/2 inches. Signed in black chalk, lower left recto. Ex-collection Adolf Glüenstein, Hamburg (Lugt 123, verso).

The authenticity of this work has been confirmed; a certificate of authenticity may be obtained from Dr. Margreet Nouwen, Berlin.

Dr. Nouwen notes that Lieberman made this drawing, which is likely a preparatory study for the same-titled oil, 1893 (private collection Eberle 1893/6), on location in the spring of 1893 during a long vacation with his wife and daughter in Italy (in March and April they spent 5 weeks in Florence).
