Illustrated Autograph Note Signed, "Winsor McCay / 'Silas'," with three small ink drawings: "I hope you never have to / carry this / old thing [arrow pointing to sketch of Mister Bunion from his strip A Pilgrim's Progress by Mister Bunion] / That if you do / eat a rarebit that / it will give you / only pleasant dreams / [sketch of sleeping woman hopefully not having nightmare from his strip Dream of the Rarebit Fiend] / such as 'Little / Nemo' has / is my everlasting wish [sketch of Little Nemo from the same strip]. In 1908, Winsor McCay performed in vaudeville shows as himself, amazing audiences with his "quick-draw" abilities, including at New York's Victoria Theatre (also known as "Hammerstein's" because it was founded by Oscar Hammerstein); the theater closed in 1915 and was demolished soon after.
