"Since the General's letter of this morning, Commodore Baron writes that 'this morning (31st July) the fleet weighed from Cape Henry and stood up the bay (40 sail in number with several larger barges full of troops).' In another letter of the same date he adds 'The fleet weighed at sunrise and stood up the bay about 15 miles. The wind and tide being a head they anchored off Cherrystones.'"
