SIGNER FROM DELAWARE MCKEAN, THOMAS. Autograph Letter Signed, "Thos M:Kean," as Chief Justice of Pennsylvania, to Stephen Lewis, Speaker of the Delaware House of Representatives, concerning salary which McKean earned as a Continental Congressman from Delaware for almost the duration of the Revolution. Additionally signed "Mr MKean" in the third person within the text. 2 pages, 4to, with integral address leaf; closed separation on center fold, foxing, address leaf worn and toned and lacking part of one corner. requests his long overdue payment for his "dangerous station" in continental congress. McKean had given good service to Delaware and signed the Declaration of Independence on their behalf. Here he earnestly requests payment of £605 for his salary and interest for his service in 'that dignified, expensive, & then dangerous station,' adding that to lose the income would be 'a sacrifice . . .
