Additional Details

This act supplemented the laws to be translated into Choctaw and published in Constitution and Laws of the Chickasaw Nation (1899). The Atoka Agreement of 1897 and Curtis Act of 1898--like the General Allotment Act of 1887 that applied only to other tribes--concerned the allotment of communal tribal lands and the termination of tribal governments among the Choctaw and Chickasaw tribes.
