Perry S. Heath (1857-1927) founded the first Muncie, IN, daily newspaper (The Daily Times) in 1879, and in Aberdeen, SD, he established The Dakota Pioneer in 1881 before moving to Washington, DC. In 1896, Heath directed publicity for the Republican National Committee; in 1897, President McKinley appointed him First Assistant Postmaster General; and beginning in 1900, Heath served as secretary of the RNC for four years.
