Additional Details

Based on the Ortelius/Teixeria model and closely following the original Ortelius map of 1595. Hondius took over the production of the Mercator's atlases in 1606 when he purchased the plates from Rumold Mercator's estate. This map of Japan was not found in earlier Mercator atlases.
