MICHELE ORTINO PARCO TIGULLIO. 1937.
391/2x271/2 inches. Barabino & Graeve, Genoa.
Condition B+: repaired tear through upper right margin; ink writing in right margin.
From Portofino in the north through Santa Margherita Ligure to Rapallo, Zoagli and finally down to Lavagna, the stretch of the elegant Italian Riviera on the Gulf of Tigullio has long been an A-list holiday destination. As a further attraction to the glitterati who made this resort on the gulf their playground are beaches, attractions, swimming, dining, dancing and more. Bolaffi cites only three known posters by this artist among which this image is not included. Ortino's most commonly seen poster promotes tourism to Cortina, in the Dolomites. Stylistically the two pieces are very similar in that they both have a centrally placed woman who is pictured in motion.
