MIGUEL COVARRUBIAS (1904-1957) PACIFIC HOUSE / GOLDEN GATE INTERNATIONAL EXPOSITION. 1940. 21 1/4x15 1/4 inches, 50 1/2x40 cm. Condition B+: repaired tears and creases in margins and image. Covarrubias painted six murals for the Pacific House at the 1940 San Francisco World's Fair. They were maps, executed in his inimitable caricature style, entitled Peoples of the Pacific, The Fauna and Flora of the Pacific Area, Art Forms of the Pacific Area, Economy of the Pacific, Native Dwellings of the Pacific Area, and Native Means of Transportation in the Pacific Area.
