first american trade edition, inscribed by miller to Arthur Leonard Ross below design on front pastedown: "A very great privilege to be included in such a collection. Warm Greetings! Henry Miller 19/2/62." Arthur Leonard Ross was the Literary Executor of the Frank Harris Estate. Harris and Miller both published sexually explicit works offending the censors through Maurice Girodias' Olympia Press in Paris. Tropic of Cancer was first published in Paris in 1934 by Olympia's putative precursor, Obelisk Press.
